Twas Christmas at the RC Field | York RC Club Holiday Poem

Christmas at the RC Field | York RC Club

The York Area R/C Club would like to share a little holiday fun with our pilots, families, and friends. ๐ŸŽ„

As the flying season slows down and the days get shorter, itโ€™s a great time to think about the people and airplanes that made this year special. โœˆ๏ธ

Instead of a technical article, we wanted to celebrate with a Christmas poem. ๐ŸŽ…

If youโ€™ve ever spent a cold morning at the field warming up your fingers on a transmitter, this one is for you.

If youโ€™re new to the hobby, consider this a lighthearted welcome to the York RC community. ๐Ÿค

And if youโ€™re a long-time member, we hope it brings back a few memories of frosty runways and smooth winter air. โ„๏ธ

So grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy a visit from a very special RC Santa. โ˜•

Here is our take on the classic โ€™Twas the Night Before Christmas, RC airplane style. ๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ

โ€™Twas the Night Before Christmasโ€ฆ at the RC Field ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ

โ€™Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the shop, ๐ŸŽ„
Not a servo was buzzing, not even a prop.
The LiPos were charged on their balance leads with care, ๐Ÿ”‹
In hopes that calm skies would soon be there.

The transmitters rested all snug on the bench, ๐Ÿ“ก
With trim tabs centered โ€” not a drift, not a wrench.
And I, with my toolkit, with glue in my lap, ๐Ÿงฐ
Had just tightened pushrods with a gentle tap-tap.

When out on the driveway, there rose such a clatter, โ—
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a dart, ๐Ÿƒ
Nearly tripping on wings, I meant never to part.

The moon on the snow โ€” smooth and white as fresh foam โ€” ๐ŸŒ•โ„๏ธ
Gave the luster of flight to our own winter home.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear, ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
But a tiny sleighโ€ฆ and eight models in gear! ๐Ÿ›ท

With a miniature pilot so lively and quick, ๐Ÿ˜„
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick. ๐ŸŽ…
More rapid than turbines, his aircraft they came, ๐Ÿ’จ
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name:

โ€œNow, Tundra! Now Timber! Now Cub and FunFlyer! โœˆ๏ธ
On Edge! On Extra! On Trainer and SkyRyder!
To the end of the driveway, donโ€™t stall on the wall โ€”
Now throttle up, throttle up, throttle up all!โ€ ๐Ÿš€

As balsa shavings whirl when a prop starts to spin, ๐Ÿชต
So soared his small fleet as they banked to begin.
Up over the rooftops the squadron they flew, ๐Ÿ
With St. Nicholas laughing โ€” oh, he knew RC too!

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the snow โ„๏ธ
The flutter and hum of a slow-flying glow.
As I turned from the window and started to grin, ๐Ÿ˜€
Down the chimney St. Nick tumbled proudly right in. ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ”ฅ

He was dressed head-to-toe like a pilotโ€™s delight, ๐Ÿงฅ
With a toolkit, spare props, and LEDs bright. ๐Ÿ”งโœจ
A bundle of goodies he flung from his pack:
Fresh glow plugs, new chargers, and fuel by the rack. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

His eyes โ€” how they twinkled! His smile full of cheer! ๐Ÿ˜
He said, โ€œMerry Christmas, my friend โ€” see you next year! ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ
But before I head out to continue my flight,
Keep the club spirit strong, and your landings just right.โ€ ๐Ÿ›ซ

He spoke not a word, just gave me a wink ๐Ÿ˜‰
Then filled up my parts bin and left me to thinkโ€ฆ
How lucky we pilots all are in this life,
To share sky and field with good friends free of strife. โค๏ธ

He sprang to his sleigh, to his fleet gave a call, ๐Ÿ“ฃ
And away they all flew, one tight-formed fly-ball. ๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ
But I heard him exclaim as he climbed out of sight โ€” ๐ŸŒŒ
โ€œMerry Christmas, York RC, and to all a good flight!โ€ ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ

๐ŸŽ… Merry Christmas from the York Area R/C Club ๐ŸŽ„

The York Area R/C Club wishes every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! ๐ŸŽ…โœจ๐ŸŽ„

May Santa bring you the parts, planes, tools, gadgets, and toys of your RC dreams โ€” and may your flights in the coming year be smooth, safe, and full of fun. ๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ๐ŸŽโ„๏ธ
